Single Digit Weeks!

Yay! This pregnancy is finally starting to wind down. We are so excited to meet this baby! She is moving around a lot and gives me big kicks in the ribs. Colby has been busy doing projects like assembling cribs and dressers. I have been feeling pretty good. Sometimes at the end of the day my back hurts, and I'm feeling tired like back in my first trimester, but other than that I can't really complain. Thanks to my friends at work that threw me a great shower already. And to all the family members that continue to make donations. We are so lucky!

You may have noticed we added a name poll. Colby and I CANNOT agree on a name. Please vote and help us out!

Deer Hunt

This past Wednesday through Saturday was the muzzle loader deer hunt. It was our first time doing the muzzle loader hunt as we usually do the rifle hunt. For those who do not know the difference, a muzzle loader rifle is the old fashioned style where you put the black powder and the bullet manually down the barrel and pack it in. It takes a lot longer to reload the gun and you have to make sure your shot counts.

I went up Wednesday by myself to set up camp due to some last minute work for my dad. Unfortunately, I forgot the lamps and flashlights that were in my dads car so I set up the tent by light of the truck.

Here is a video I took while sitting under a tree. There were some leaves crunching on the left and it was several deer that crossed the meadow in front of me. One came pretty close to where I was.

Greg and my dad both got a deer. Even though I wasn't so lucky, I enjoyed this hunt more than the others because I saw much more deer, even though they were doe's. It was also much warmer than usual because it is a little earlier in the season. Better luck next year.

Cookies Anyone?

Ever since I FINALLY hit 20 weeks, my horrible morning sickness has somewhat subsided and food even sounds good to me again. So what sounded delicious to me this weekend? No Bake Cookies. Peanut butter, cocoa, and oats. What could be better than that? I swear I ate the whole batch by myself in 3 days. I just told myself they were healthy. Peanut butter has protein...oats have fiber..that's healthy right? Right? R-I-G-H-T...

You can gorge yourself, too, with this yummy recipe:

No Bake Cookies

1/3 C cocoa 1/2 C peanut butter
2 C sugar 3 C oatmeal
1/2 C milk 1 tsp vanilla
1/2 C butter

Combine and boil for 1 minute the cocoa, sugar, milk, and butter. Add peanut butter. Remove from heat and stir. When smooth add oatmeal and vanilla. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.

Happy Birthday Colby!!

Colby is turning the big 26 on September 30th.  Happy birthday!  To celebrate he is going deer hunting for four days with his dad and brothers.  And then elk hunting the next weekend.  Is it bad if I hope he doesn't catch anything?  So give him his birthday wishes in the next couple of days before he goes off the grid!

Anyhoo, we celebrated his birthday early by going to the temple and then The Roof Restaurant for dinner.  It was the first time we'd ever been there.  It was awesome.  Incredible views and yummy yummy food.  Don't you just love birthdays?  I am sure grateful that Colby was born.  He is funny, smart, hard-working, and doesn't take anything too seriously.  In short he's a pretty amazing husband and in 20 short weeks I know that he will be a terrific dad, too!

Soccer and Hiking

Rachel bought us some Real Salt Lake tickets last week. It was a nice night and it was a good match.

Last Friday, Rachel and I and the dog hiked up to Dog Lake that is up at the top of Millcreek Canyon. It was about a 2 mile hike up the mountain. We packed a dinner and hiked up together. On odd numbered days dogs can be off leash and Abbie had a good time exploring and playing in the lake.
