Afterward we came back to our place for icecream cake. I accidentally bought those trick candles and the cake looked like a torch. Our little place filled up with smoke really fast and I'm surprised the detectors didn't go off. Fun time. Happy Birthday Colby! I'm very glad you were born.

Happy Birthday Colby!
Yay! It's Colby's birthday! We went to Tucano's for dinner with my family and Colby's parents. At the restaurant the servers came out and sang with drums and maracas and such to embarrass Colby. Sadly, I didn't get my camera out in time.

Park City Weekend
It is Colby's birthday on Tuesday. He'll be 24 (old fart, just kidding). In celebration, I got us a hotel room in Park City for a couple of nights. Friday we went to Park City Mountain Resort and did the Alpine slide and coaster. It was so fun! I can't beleive in my ten years living in Utah I had never been on the Alpine slide before. Afterward we took a pretty fall drive up Guardsman Pass. It has to be the best place in Utah for fall pictures. We stopped in Heber and went to dinner with Colby's parents. Thanks Steve and Susie!
On Sunday my grandma hosted a campfire at the Spruces up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We had a good time eating and chatting. Sadly, the rain came and ended the party a little early. All in all we had a very nice weekend.
Here I am looking scared before I go down the slide.
Colby and I went down the slide at the same time. He was much faster than me, as I was being wussy, and he stopped on the slide to take this picture.
Colby on the way up the rollercoaster. I was ahead of him this time.
Colby at the end of the ride. As you can see he had a lot of fun!
Colby and the beautiful trees.
This one is my favorite.
Me and my sister Linds. I don't know why her tongue is that color.
Various cousins roasting marshmellows.
Linds, Grandma, and Corey huddled around the fire, while it's raining being real troopers.
Colbs and I trying to stay dry. My aunt Debbie is behind me. She makes the best salsa and kindly shared her wisdom with me last week. Thanks Deb!

Family
This week at work, I had to remove four young children from their home (I didn't get home till 11pm-really fun time). The children lived with five adult family members in a small town house that was kept in terrible condition. I've been working with this family for months trying to get them to get this place cleaned up. Monday I arrived for a scheduled visit and found cockroaches, human feces and rotten food (You knew I was coming and couldn't take two seconds to clean up the poop?). It was a hard decision, but ultimately the children needed to be in a safe place. Hopefully this will be the wake up call for the parents to finally get a safe place for their children.
Anyway, days like this put life into perspective and make me appreciate what I have. I'm grateful for a mom who taught me how to clean! I'm grateful for parents who would always do anything to keep me safe. I'm grateful for a husband who puts family before everything and someday will be an awesome father. And most of all I'm grateful for the knowledge that even though no family is perfect, we are all given chances to be better children/spouses/siblings/parents and live with our family forever. Please take a moment and thank a family member today!!

BYU game

Well, I've been feeling a little guilty because Colby does all of the blogging and usually it's the wife that does it. So I'm going to try and post more.
This weekend Colby and I went to the BYU game. Colby has gone to practically all of the home games for a couple of years courtesy of his dad's season tickets. Thanks Steve! But, this was actually the first game I've ever been to with them so it was pretty exciting. I'm really more of a Jazz basketball kind of gal, but this season I've been getting into college football. Anyway, it was really fun. BYU held Wyoming scoreless. My favorite part was maybe the view though. I forgot how pretty Provo is!
