Heart Lake

So we went camping two weekends ago up to a tiny Lake/Pond called Heart Lake. It is in the Uintas just east past Heber where we usually go deer hunting. We drove up and saw some great scenery and actually several deer so that is somewhat promising for next month's hunt.
I guess ever sense camping with Rachel I get a little more paranoid of danger. Probably because of the constant reminder of the articles she reads in the papers about bears and such attacking poor little campers. So that night right when I fell asleep, Rachel wakes me and asked me if I heard the noise. I listened and heard a coyote yelping probably a couple hundred yards away. It was definitely the closest I heard them. It wasn't a howl but the noise I would imagine they would make while on the kill. So it kind of freaked me out a little and to make it a little bit more tense, our dog was growling in a low growl. Rachel made us go sleep in the Jeep for the night which completely sucked because I had to share the drivers seat with the dog. So basically I didn't really sleep. A few hours later I woke Rachel and told her I'm going back to the tent and she came with me and we slept in peace the rest of the terrible night. In hindsight, it was dumb to be scared of coyotes because they are tiny and not human attackers but I had never heard them so close. If it were sunny I'm sure they would have been just across the meadow from where we were.
The next morning we went on a hike back around the lake. It was actually very pretty.

Jack Johnson Concert

Last Monday we went to the Jack Johnson concert. It was actually a really great show and good music. Here are some pictures and one video I took at the bottom.

This is the best tattoo ever. Mostly because of irony. Plus he was wearing a BYU basketball jersey.

Things That Must Go : Bonus Round

One more thing that has really bothered me lately and must go : the plastic casing around electronics. I am not a big fan of having to perform surgery to get to my electronic device that I bought, especially when I don't have a knife or scissors around. Find a better way people.

Man Trip: Lake Powell

Here are some pictures of the recent family man trip. The only qualification for going: be a man. Sadly, Kyle did not attend.

Me jumping. I'm not as good as Sam and Nate.

Nate jumping.

Sam looking slightly homo.

This is LaGorce arch. For some reason, we Heaps's love this arch. We used to jump off the cliffs a long long time ago when the water was higher. We always go back to see if it is.

These next series of cliffs were probably our highest ones. And the most fun. Here is Sam

Nate

Me

This is Nate and me jumping together from the top. I got the wind knocked out of me on this one.

This was a smaller cliff that I tried to do a back flip off. As you can see, I was fully upside down far too soon and over rotated and landed right on my side. I also got the wind knocked out of me.

The beard in all it's glory.

Things That Must Go

I have been an avid fan of X96's morning show "Radio From Hell" for quite a while. Well, once a week they have a feature of what they call "Thing's That Must Go". It's where they list things that just bug them and should stop. So in light to that, here is my list of things that must go.

1. Caller Tunes - why would I want to listen to whatever dumb music you want me to. I just want to hear a phone ring. That's it. Maybe I hate this so much because when I call some people for my job, I have to listen to their stupid gangsta rap song. Gay.

2. I was talking to a kid in class about sushi and recommended Sushi Ya as a great place to eat sushi. He told me, "Trust me, I'm Polynesian and I know what is good sushi and that is not good sushi." This kid has lived in Utah his whole life. What does being Polynesian have anything to do with taste. I would understand if he lived in Tonga but he didn't.

3. People on the phone in the bathroom - that totally bugs me. When you poppin' a squat, don't talk to anyone. Especially when the person you're on the phone with probably doesn't know you're dropping the kids off at the pool. Disgusting.

4. Slow people in the left lane - If you are in the left lane, you better be passing someone else. Or if you are in the left lane and someone else comes up from behind, get out of the way. Almost nothing bugs me more when I drive than slow people in the left lane. I should not have to pass on the right, as it is statistically more dangerous. I am thinking of making a sign to show as I pass that says "Slower traffic keep right."

5. Pop up ads that cover just part of the text. Like when you go to a website and they have an ad that blocks up part of the page and you have to find the x to close it. That must go.

So if you have any more suggestions of things that must go, post 'em.
